JOHN DEAN SECKER, 66 RIVER FOREST - John Dean Secker, age 66, a longtime resident of River Forest, IL, died peacefully at his home on April 25 after a yearlong struggle with lung cancer. Born and raised in Freeport, he graduated from Aquin Central Catholic High School in 1965. Following that he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Notre Dame, a Masters in Taxation at DePaul University and was a Certified Public Accountant. John served in the Army during the Vietnam War and upon his return worked briefly for the accounting firm of Ernst and Ernst before joining the Chicago law firm of Madden, Jiganti, Moore and Sinars. After thirty seven years, he retired as head of their tax division. John was an accomplished golfer and has been, with his wife Anne, a regular member at the Oak Park Country Club for twenty four years. He was a voracious reader and an avid physical fitness advocate, but most of all, was devoted to family as husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was exceptionally generous in helping family and friends as a trusted financial advisor and confidante. He loved teaching and was a very popular adjunct professor of graduate students at Dominican University's Brennan School of Business. Among his volunteer contributions, he served on the board of the Oak Park and River Forest Infant Welfare Society. Beloved husband of Anne "Langlois" Secker; loving father of Stephen J. (Stacy) Secker of Eau Claire, WI and Julia (Aaron) Markos of Elmhurst, IL; cherished grandfather of Garrett, Callista and Gabriel Secker and Eleanor and Charles Markos; dear son of John S. and the late Callista Secker of Sun City, AZ; fond brother of Susan L. Secker of Los Angeles, CA and Joseph S. (Rita) Secker of San Diego, CA; caring uncle of 28 nieces and nephews. Visitation Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection 10 a.m. at Old St. Patrick's Church, 700 W. Adams St., Chicago, IL.
