GARY LEE HOCKMAN, 71 FREEPORT - Gary Lee Hockman, 71, of Freeport, formerly of Pearl City, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at his home. He was born on Aug. 16, 1942, in Freeport, the son of Morrell and Lena (TerHark) Hockman, and was a 1960 graduate of Pearl City High School. He drove a milk truck for Swiss Valley Farms for many years and later was employed by the Pearl City School District. Gary was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kent and the Pearl City Masonic Lodge. He was a Bears and Cubs fan and a Pearl City Wolves fan. Survivors include his brother, Harold (Martha) Hockman of Westfir, Or.; two sisters, Carolyn Hockman and Joyce Fisher, both of Rockford, niece, Wendy (Tim) Slick-Davidson; two nephews, Waldo Hockman and Andrew (Holly) Hockman; great-niece, Hunter Davidson; and two great-nephews, Ryne and Blaise Hockman. Preceding his in death were his parents; brother, Donald Hockman; nephew, Anthony Slick; and a brother-in-law, Louis Fisher. A Celebration of his life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at the Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd. Freeport, with Pastor Carole Andres of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kent officiating. Burial of his cremains will be in Oakland Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Schwarz Chapel, with Masonic Services at 6 p.m. Memorials have been established in his memory for St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Pearl City Schools.
