Harriet G. Haight 1932—2018
Harriet G. Haight, 86, of Freeport, IL, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport. She was born February 27, 1932, in St. Olaf, IA to the late Leslie and Annice (Raoldoff) Halverson. Harriet married Ted Haight on July 7, 1977, in Las Vegas, NV. She was a teacher for a one room country school on her grandparents land in St. Olaf. She loved being a homemaker and running a home daycare, she cared for many children over the years. She enjoyed cooking and reading. She was also an avid doll collector and truly enjoyed her dolls. Most of all, she loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harriet is survived by her husband, Ted Haight of Freeport; sons, Mike (Karen) Barr of Freeport, Brian (Dawn) Barr of Shannon, and Scott (Karla) Barr of Freeport; daughters, Wendy (Russel) Fransen of St. Cloud, MN, Kathy (Mark) Reist of PA, Jennifer (Kenneth) Minarik of Belvidere, IL and Nancy (Phillip) Elmer of Freeport; stepsons, David (Dee) Haight of Savanna, IL and Darrell (Vicki) Haight of Clarksville, TN; stepdaughters, Debra (Michael) Goodwin of Rockford, IL and Deanna (Tom) DeBisschop of Moline, IL; sister-in-law, Jill Miles of Rockford; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Derick; step-son, Shawn Haight; and sisters, LouElla Boland and Deanna Odell.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5th, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimer's Association. Wishing you our deepest sympathy on the loss of Harriett. I enjoyed seeing her when I came to visit Dick and she was always sweet. And Bud, it was nice getting to know you and your daughter on my visits. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers as you go thru this difficult time.
