Jeffrey Thomas Russell 1964—2018
Jeffrey Thomas Russell, 54, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL. Born July 23, 1964, in Urbana, IL; the son of Thomas Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Surplice) Russell. Graduated from Lyons Township High School, LaGrange, IL in 1982. Was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a medic in the National Guard. Jeff relocated with UPS to open the Rockford Air Hub which is where he and Marcy met. Jeff married Marcella "Marcy" Siemens on September 1, 2007, at the German Valley United Methodist Church. Currently, Jeff was self-employed as a financial investor. Jeff was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, enjoyed playing golf with friends and family, and was an organized traveler who thoroughly enjoyed his vacations with Marcy. Jeff was also an accomplished chef. Every day, he would call Marcy to ask what she would like for dinner so he could choose the wine to pair with the meal. Jeff's family would like to express extreme appreciation to the team of nurses, doctors and staff at OSF Cancer Center in Rockford for their continuous, dedicated and compassionate care for Jeff. Jeff is survived by his wife, Marcy Siemens Russell of Rockford; parents, Tom and Mary Russell of Vonore, TN; sisters, Kathy (Wes) Sanders of Chicago, Susan (Eric) Sellenberg of Batavia; nephew, Eric (Mary Healy) Sanders; nieces, Anya Sanders, Annie Sellenberg, Gretchen Sellenberg; father and mother-in-law, Walt and Pat Siemens of Freeport, brothers-in-law, Steve Siemens of Ridott, Kevin Siemens of Freeport; numerous family members; special friends, Karen Glavin and Shari Warmoth. Jeff is predeceased by his grandparents.
Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018, at German Valley United Methodist Church, 7 Main St., German Valley, with Pastor Donald Plock officiating. Memorial visitation 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2018, at Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago. Cremation rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
