MELVIN 'BUD' RAAB, 84 PEARL CITY - Melvin "Bud" Raab, 84 of Pearl, City, IL, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL. He was born June 2, 1928, the son of Clarence and Florence (Finkenbinder) Raab. Bud and Doris Krahmer were married on January, 16, 1949 in Pearl City. Bud was a devoted member of the Shannon Baptist Church, where he served as a faithful usher for many years. He was known as a hard worker, he retired in 1993. He loved wintering in Arizona from October to May 1st every year. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, and helping his daughter, Gail, with daycare. Bud is survived by his two daughters, Gail (Jim) Westaby of Pearl City and Barbara (Tim) Sweely of Elizabeth, IL; son, Randy (Candy) Raab of Gastonia, NC; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; grandson, Nathan; sister; and two brothers. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Hermann Funeral Home in Pearl City. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Shannon Baptist Church, Pastor Tim Lehman presiding. Internment will take place at Highland Cemetery in Pearl City.
