MARION HELEN (KURTH) CAVANAUGH, 92 FREEPORT - Marion Helen (Kurth) Cavanaugh, 92 years old, of Freeport passed away on July 27, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was born in Freeport on Dec. 15, 1921 the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Kornelly) Kurth. She was baptized at the St. Joseph's Church, and married Attorney James K. Cavanaugh. Marion served in the Navy as a dental assistant during WWII; she worked as a secretary until retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph's Marion Society and was St. Joseph's first female usher in 1975, Marion took part in the Currillo movement, lector and misc. positions, Eucharistic Minister, she enjoyed the Bowling League, Bingo, outdoor activities, rummage sales, and helped others wherever she was needed. She is survived by her sister: Ruth (William) Atherton, many nieces and nephews whom she is very proud of and a step-daughter: Lisa Ann Graham and family. Marion is preceded by her parents, 2 sisters: Rosalie Kurth and Ann McCaffrey, 5 brothers: Andrew, Richard, Harry, Walter, and Jacob Services will be on August 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel 608 S. Park Blvd with Pastor Timothy Barr officiating. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. until time of service; interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials will be given to the Aquin Elementary School.
