LILIAN E. STONE, 91 FREEPORT - Lilian E. Stone, 91, of Freeport, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Stephenson Nursing Center. Born March 1, 1922, in London, England, she was the daughter of Charles E. and Ada (Collins) Stevens. She married Sidney F.W. Stone December 26, 1941, in England. He died May 1, 2001. During World War II Lilian worked at the General Aircraft Factory in England. When she came to the United States in 1957, she had a vital working career in addition to raising her family. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and their Concordia Society. She was a volunteer for many organizations. Lilian was a longtime member of TOPS. Her greatest joys came from time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and gardening. Surviving are her children, Sylvia (Reverend Dr. Stanley) Bomgarden of Freeport, Valerie Gunter of Texas, Victor Stone of Texas; 2 brothers, Bill (Doreen) Stevens and Walter Stevens, both of London, England; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son, Robert; 1 grandson, Jonathan; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday April 22, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Reverend Dr. Willis Schwichtenberg officiating. Visitation will be Monday 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Following the service cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial has been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
