MARIAN ADELE DAVIS, 91 APPLE RIVER - Marian Adele Davis, 91, of Apple River, formerly of Galena, IL, passed away peacefully to be with her heavenly father on Sunday, September 1, 2013, at the Lena Living Center, Lena, IL. She was born February 3, 1922, in Hazel Green, WI; the daughter of Peter and Matilda (Kaiser) Snyder. Marian graduated from Galena High School. She was united in marriage on February 5, 1940, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Galena, to William Francis "Sam" Davis; he preceded her in death on July 7, 1983. Marian and her husband farmed for many years outside of Apple River. They were married for forty-three years and were proud to have said they raised fifteen children. Surviving are her seven sons, James of Wisconsin Dells, WI, John (Colleen) of Watertown, WI, Robert (Cindy) of Pearl City, IL, Dennis of Warren, IL, David (Anna) of Freeport, IL, Mark of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Richard of Scales Mound, IL; six daughters, Elizabeth (George) Schmelze of Naples, FL, Patricia (Gary) Johnson of Darlington, WI, Rose Marie (Gary) Cashman of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Jo (Roger) Miller of Phoenix, AZ, Joanne (Brian) Toay of Mineral Point, WI and Marilyn Davis of Alaska; twenty-seven grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and sister, Sister Roslyn O.P. of Sinsinawa, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Joyce Davis; and son Larry Davis. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Lena Living Center, Dr. Martin Cleary and all their family and friends. There overwhelming compassion and kindness will never be forgotten. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, and friends may call after 10 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
