CLIMENA GUETSCHOW, 92 LENA - Climena Guetschow, 92, formerly of Rockford, died at the Lena Living Center September 11, 2013. She was born to Clara (Broge) and William Groom on December 18, 1920. She graduated from Warren High School in 1938. She worked at several jobs in Rockford during World War Two. She married Phillip Guetschow September 5, 1942. He died December 24, 1991. She was a volunteer at Swedish-American Hospital in Rockford for nine years. She loved helping people, raising lots of flowers, and playing golf. She is survived by her sister, Georgianna Spragle of Daly City, CA; brother, Clyde (Wilma) Groom of Warren, IL; one sister-in-law, Doris Guetschow of South Beloit, IL; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend and roommate for eight years, Dorothy Weimer of Lena, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lucille (Mayne) McFadden, Marguerite (Rosco) Inman, and Esther (Vernon) Inman; and brother, Chester (Margaret) Groom; niece, Charl Groom; two sisters-in-law, Helen Guetschow of South Beloit, IL and Betty Guetschow of Indianapolis, IN; and four brothers-in-law, Harold and Donald Guetschow of South Beloit, IL, Richard Guetschow of Indianapolis, IN, and Leland Spragle of Daly City, CA. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2013, at the rural Pinnacle Cemetery, South Beloit, IL. Pastor Miranda Klosterboer of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lena, IL will be officiating. Memorials will go to the Cancer Society and the MS Foundation.
