ROBERT E. SNAPP, 45 YUMA, Ariz. - With great sadness, his family announces the passing of Robert E. Snapp, 45, on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. He was born in Freeport, IL, August 27, 1968, to Edward and Eileen Snapp of Eleroy, IL. He graduated from Lena-Winslow High School in 1986. Left to mourn his passing are his fiancée, Dawn Roan, his beloved son, Michael, and his two beautiful daughters, Rebecca and Mariela, all of Vail, AZ. Robert is also survived by his mother, Eileen Snapp of Eleroy; and his 5 sisters, Marilyn (Dick) Marchel of Glenwood Springs, CO, Lilah (Kelvin) Stoel of Colorado Springs, CO, Ima Lindstrom of Colorado Springs, CO, Colleen (Jerry) Alton of Ashland, WI, and his twin sister, Roberta Rogers of Freeport, IL; nieces and nephews, Christopher Lindstrom, David (Kristi) Hyland, Cassaundra (Bret) Garegnani and their daughters, Adrianna and Gemma Rose, Matthew Stoel, Jacob Alton, Kyle Alton, Drew Rogers and Cody Rogers. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward H. Snapp; grandparents, Chris and Ima Snapp, and grandparents, George and Anna Winter; along with several uncles and aunts. Robert entered the Air Force in March 1987, excelling in his chosen field of fuels operations, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. His permanent assignments were Luke AFB, Arizona, Ramstein AB Germany, Osan AB South Korea and Davis-Monthan AFB Arizona. Temporary assignments were Saudi Arabia, Manta Ecuador, Mombasa Kenya, Cuacoa Netherland Entilles, Entebbe Uganda, Soto Cana AB Honduras, Saudi Arabia, Santiago Chile, Greece, Montevideo Uruguay, Incirlik AB turkey, Iquique Chili, Jordan, Medellin Colombia, and Buenos Aires Argentina. He deployed in support of Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Provide Comfort, Support Hope, Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom - always thriving in bare-base conditions. Master Sergeant Snapp received numerous major awards, decorations and volunteered endless hours for Airmen's Attic. After 20 years of service, Master Sergeant Snapp retired from the Air Force as the AFSOUTH Fuels Operations Manager and continued his career in fuels management in Arizona and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Robert was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, patriot, and friend. His passions included NASCAR (#14), scuba diving, ATVing, and his family. He was a friend to everyone he met and was loved by all. He will remain in our hearts forever. To celebrate Robert's incredible life, a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014, in Tucson, Arizona. Visitation will be held at Leamon's Funeral Home in Lena, Illinois from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, with funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Lena United Methodist Church. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the service. Robert will be laid to rest near his father at White Oak Cemetery near Forreston, Illinois.
