Dolores Akin

KENOSHA - Dolores Akin, 79, entered into eternal life on Wednesday June 19, 2013 at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, surrounded by her loving family after a brief struggle with Leukemia. Dolores was born on April 17, 1934 in Kenosha, the daughter of the late Peter & Lillian Kavaliauskas. She married Richard C. Akin on May 5, 1956. She was employed at Kenosha Unified Schools until her retirement. In addition to raising three children Dolores volunteered her services to her children’s schools, church, community Shalom Center, Kenosha Hospital Gift Shop, and Meals on Wheels. Dolores loved spending time with family and friends, go to rummage sales, play mahjong, create cards, and arrange flowers. Dolores is survived by three children, Greg (Ann) Akin, Kimberly (David) Frost, Leslie (David) Sandahl; grandchildren, Bill and Leigh Akin, Kyle and Scott Frost, and Niki and Taylor Sandahl; a brother, Wayne (Sandy) Kavaliauskas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 2010. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday June 23rd, 2013 at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church 2001 80th st., Kenosha. Visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with memorial services to follow at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the St. Mary’s Endowment Foundation, Shalom Center, and Hospice Alliance.
