Donald L. Chase

RACINE - Donald Lee Chase, 82, passed away on April 3, 2014 at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee. Donald was born in Racine to the late Ivan and Clara (née: Winthrone) Chase on April 12, 1931. He had lived in Racine all his life. When he was young he worked at his father's gas station to help support the family. Later he became an auto body repairman, working at Uptown Auto Body for most of his career. Donald was proud to serve in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954 during the Korean War. On July 7, 1956 he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Klamm. He retired after 58 years in 2003. Donald enjoyed reading, racing, Indian motorcycles, cars, go carts, and camping at the races in his motor home. In his younger years he drove in stock car races. He was very handy with mechanical repairs. He was called "Scoop" by his family because he was always interested in meeting other people and getting the details of their cars, motor homes or go carts etc… Donald also enjoyed his time with his family especially his grandchildren. Donald will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years, Carol; children, Ronald (Dianne) Chase and Susan Chase; grandchildren, Andrew (Katie) Chase, Kristin (Karl) Peura and Alyssa Chase; great grandchildren, Summer and Carter Gray, and Bianca and Teagan Peura; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, David A. Chase and two brothers, Russell (Mary) Chase Sr. and Robert Chase. Funeral services in honor of Donald will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Monday evening, April 7, 2014 at 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 6:00 PM until the time of service. Interment with full military honors will be at Graceland Cemetery on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 12:30 PM.
