Eugene Bergerson

KENOSHA - Eugene Bergerson, 84, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Woodstock Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 11, 1920, in Racine, he was the son of the late Jerome T. and Elsie (nee: Svoboda) Bergerson. On October 1, 1955, he married Grace Friedeck in Racine. He was educated in the schools of Racine and was a graduate of Horlick High School in 1938. He served in the United States Army, entering on October 5, 1942, and was Honorably Discharged on November 8, 1945. He served in the China Burma Theatre, Mars Task Force, and Merrills Marauders. He played semi-pro baseball throughout Wisconsin and was a lefty pitcher for the New York Yankees. For 35 years, he worked at J.I. Case in shipping for the Printing Department. He was an Elder in the Second Presbyterian Church in Racine. He was an avid bowler and sportsman. Survivors include his wife, Grace Bergerson of Kenosha; and special friend and caregiver, Mary (Mark) Roberts of Kenosha. He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Powers. A Graveside service will be held at St. George Cemetery on Friday, April 22, 2005, at 11:30 a.m. The family would like to thank all the staff at Woodstock Health and Rehabilitation Center for the love and compassionate care they showed Eugene at the home for the last 11 1/2 years.
