Thomas Charles Adams
RACINE – Thomas C. Adams, age 64, passed away peacefully with his beloved wife, Carol, at his side on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center following a courageous battle with Mesothelioma. A lifetime resident, Tom was born in Racine on July 23, 1949 to the late Sheridan and Mary (nee: Czosnek) Adams. After graduating from Washington Park High School in 1967, he faithfully served our Country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967-1971. On May 7, 1981, Tom was united in marriage with Carol (nee: Hansen) Gravitter. With a great passion for horses, he was employed as a well-respected professional trainer at Shadow Brook Farms in Libertyville, IL. Among his interests, Tom enjoyed Corvettes, Firebirds, computers, Suduko puzzles, casinos and his animals. Above all, he loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family – especially his adored nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Surviving are his loving wife, Carol; step-sons, Rob and Ryan Gravitter; sisters and brothers, Jackie (Gerald) Kortendick, John (Elyse) Adams, all of Racine; James (Karen) Adams of Kingston, WA and Janice (James) Prochaska of Racine; mother-in-law, Betty J. Hansen of Racine; brother-in-law, Bill (Mary) Hansen of Denver, CO; many special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends – too numerous to mention by name. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his nieces (of whom were his God-Daughters) Jayne Kortendick and Jamie Prochaska; and father-in-law, Alvin R. Hansen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11:00 am in St. Louis Catholic Church, 13207 Highway G in Caledonia, with Rev. Mark Danczyk officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 pm and in the church on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 am. A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Michael Mullane, Kelly Konesko, NP & their entire staff for the compassionate care and support given during the past year. May God bless all of you!
