Wayne W. Joubert

BURLINGTON - Age 88, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington. Wayne was born December 1, 1924 in Tigerton, WI, to the late Leo and Elizabeth (nee Daley) Joubert. He spent his early life in Tigerton and was a graduate of Wittenberg High School. Wayne received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and his Masters of Science Degree in Education from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Wayne had proudly served in the United States Navy as a Radar Operator during WWII. He served in the South Pacific, and was at both battles, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. On January 11, 1949 in Anoka, MN, Wayne was united in marriage to Vivian Lord. Following marriage they resided in Wausau, Lake Geneva and Racine before moving to Burlington after Wayne’s retirement. Wayne was a school teacher for 43 years, the last 34 at Racine Unified. He was a lifetime member of the National Education Association and enjoyed fishing, hunting and working with computers. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Vivian and their son, Craig (Trudie) Joubert of Munford, TN. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will take place on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home from 4:30 PM until 6:30 PM. Full Military Honors will follow at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials have been suggested to Aurora Burlington Memorial Hospital, the Nature Conservatory or to the Salvation Army.
