Irene Oliver

RACINE - Irene Oliver, 75, passed away at WFH All Saints Hospital on Thursday, June 16, 2011. She was born in Terre Haute, Ind. on June 7, 1936, daughter of the late William and Etta Mae (nee: Burks) Allen. Irene moved to Racine in 1954, where she met her future husband, Raymond Oliver. They were married on November 15, 1955. Irene's career as a Nursing Assistant began at St. Mary's Hospital and continued at High Ridge Nursing Home, Southern Colony in Union Grove, and finally at the Lincoln Lutheran Home. After her retirement from Lincoln Lutheran, she enjoyed working part-time as a School Crossing Guard. She liked to crochet and studied the Bible regularly, and was an intercessory prayer warrior. She was a faithful member of Greater Grace Temple COGIC for over 30 years. She is survived by her sons, Kenny Oliver, Keith Oliver, Kevin Oliver, Raymond Oliver Jr., Kimberly Oliver, Kurtis (Mynette) Oliver, and Kelly Oliver; her daughters, Tasha Oliver and Tonya Oliver; 32 grandchildren; 29 great- grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Jo Sullivan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Oliver; granddaughter, Ke'Layah Oliver; brothers-in-law William Oliver Jr., Kenny Oliver Sr., and Gerald (Ruby) Oliver; sister-in-law, Dorothy Edwards; and Godparents, George and Emma Pitt. Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Greater Grace Temple, 522 North Memorial Drive, with Elder Jettie Cornett officiating. Interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park immediately following the service.
