RACINE - Darlene C. Hollister (nee Thur), 85, formerly of Union Grove, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2013 at her home in Racine. She was born on January 24, 1928 and raised in Fairchild, WI by Rudolph and Clara (nee Watenphul) Thur. Darlene married the love of her life, the late Blaine Hollister, on September 15, 1945 and during their 43 year marriage they raised three children. In 1958, they moved to Union Grove to work and raise their family. Darlene worked for the Southern Wisconsin Center as a Nurses Aide and retired after more than 30 years of service. The Price Is Right and The Wheel of Fortune were favorite entertainment. Darlene always loved dancing with Blaine and now they are dancing together forever. Darlene is survived by her children, Rick (Barbara) Hollister, Dan (Maryann) Hollister, and Debra (Steve) Thornton; her grandchildren, Heidi (Shawn) Abernathy, Brian (Kory) Small, Kelli Thornton, and Kerri Thornton (Jim Gehrand); and her great-grandchildren, Ayden Hollister, Branden Abernathy, and Madilyn Abernathy. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine; her parents, Rudolph and Clara Thur; and her five siblings. Visitation for Darlene will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 4pm 7 pm. A memorial service officiated by Pastor James Kuech will begin at 7 pm.
