Florence was a graduate of William Horlick High School, Miss Brown's School of Business, and Spencerian College. She enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and received an Honorable Discharge after a number of years of service to her country. Florence was a civilian employee with the Department of the Army in Japan, teaching prisoners of war. She also studied cryptography with the State Department in Washington, D.C. Florence worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Newsroom at the Racine Journal Times until her retirement and felt it was a wonderful experience. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles, Robert, and Rudy Wilde; five sisters, Emma Mauer, Pauline Loomis, Lucille Meddy, Laura McCormack, and Evelyn Wilde; and a dear sister-in-law, Frances Wilde. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 16, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1100 Erie Street, Fr. Roberto McGlinn and Deacon Russell Misurelli officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. in the funeral home with a Parish Vigil at 6:45 p.m. and again on Friday in St. Patrick's Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. The family would also like to thank Karen Gorsiski for her loving and special care she gave to Florence. "I look forward to a happy reunion with my husband, John and all of my family and friends."
