KANSASVILLE - Kennan Nelson, 56, of Kansasville, passed away peacefully at his home on November 24, 2013 after a valiant battle against pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Eau Claire, WI on January 9, 1957 to Lucille Nelson, he was raised in Burlington and graduated from Case High School in Racine. Kennan retired as a Cottage Supervisor for the Southern Wisconsin Center after 30 years of service. In his free time he loved to ride his motorcycle, play pool, and throw horseshoes with his leagues. An outdoorsman, he loved adventure and went white-water rafting, camping, and most recently, had a successful musky hunt with his brother-in-law, John Venzke. Kennan's family will remember his fun loving, independent, and spontaneous personality and his witty humor. Kennan is survived by his siblings, Gary Nelson (Marge Wyman) of Madison, Susan R. (John) Nelson Venzke of Neillsville, Kim (Lorrie) Nelson of Aransas Pass, TX; his nephew, Stephen Nelson of Algoma; his niece, Georgette (Blake) Teschner of Marshfield; and he will be missed by many dear friends. Kennan was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Smith in 2001 and his nephew, James R. Nelson in 2004. Visitation for Kennan's family and friends will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 4-6 pm with a memorial service to begin at 6 pm.
