KENOSHA - Marion A. Black, 80, died Thursday, September 30, 2004, at Washington Manor after a long illness. Born on April 3, 1924, in Racine, she was the daughter of the late Magnus J. and Caroline (nee: Petura) Sorensen. She married Donald E. Black. They later divorced. She was educated in the schools of Racine and graduated from high school in Kenosha. From June 28, 1944, she served in the United States Navy, where she was stationed in California as a Yeoman 2nd Class. She was Honorably Discharged on January 10, 1946. For many years, she worked as an Executive Secretary to the Dean at Eastern Michigan University. While working at the University, she traveled to India, which was one of the highlights of her life. She loved to read and had an extensive collection of books. Survivors include her four sons, David L. (Diane) Black of Nashville, Tenn., Donald E. Black Jr. of Michigan, Danny L. Black of Michigan, and Dale W. (Vicky) Black of Texas; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Bob Sorensen of Racine and Magnus J. (Mary) Sorensen of Kenosha; and one sister, Gladys Tenwinkel of Kenosha. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane. Memorial services will be held at St. Mary's Lutheran Church, 2001 - 80th Street, Kenosha, on Monday, October 18, 2004, at 1 p.m. Inurnment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park with Military Honors.
