Paul Gilbert Mielke RACINE – Paul Gilbert Mielke, 83, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Paul was born in Racine on June 11, 1930 to Paul F. and Anna (nee, Blask) Mielke. He married the former Gloria Bronson in 1951. Paul served in the U. S. Air National Guard during the Korean War. He was employed by the Racine Fire Department, retiring as a Captain in 1985 after more than 32 years. Paul was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served on several boards. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Mielke; sons, Jon (Judy) Mielke and Mark (Lorraine) Mielke; grandsons, Jeremy (Stefanie) Mielke, Justin (Megan) Mielke and Jonathan Mielke; his great-grandsons, Logan Paul Mielke and Liam Daniel Mielke; great-granddaughter, Amelia Rose Mielke; and sister-in-law, Pat Rosenberg. Paul is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother. Funeral services for Paul will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1501 Erie Street, on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jack Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints for all of their care and compassion.
