- Erik Hans Raahauge 93, went to be with his Lord on Friday (April 4, 2014). Born May 21, 1920 to Alfred and Charlotte (Anderson) Raahauge in Helerup, Denmark, he was the oldest of three sons. He was a veteran of World War II having served in three different theaters of operation, first with the Danish Merchant Marine in the Atlantic, then with the United States Army in New Guinea and finally with the United States Merchant Marine in the Pacific. He was a lifelong member of both the Danish Brotherhood in America and the Dania Lodge of Racine, WI. On January 3, 1948 he married Edna Martha Lutz in Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Racine. They had three children and were married for 56 years making their home in Racine. He was employed as a house painter in the building trades. He was an active member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Racine, and St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Ellicotville, NY. He was a strong supporter of his children in the Racine Ambassadear and Racine Kilties Drum Corps. In later years he enjoyed travelling alternating between his daughter in Cambridge, MN and his son in Salamanca, NY. Erik is survived by his by his brother Arne in Tonder, Denmark, his son Ron (Donna) Raahauge of Salamanca, NY and his daughter Sonja (Randy) Barrows of Ramsey MN, sister-in-law Dorthy Lutz of Racine and by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Knuth, a son John, his parents, and his wife Edna. Visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home Tuesday evening 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with services at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday morning at Gethsemane Lutheran Church followed by burial at Mound Cemetery.
