RACINE — Gerald Frederic Steeves, 90, passed away at Union Grove VA-Boland Hall on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Jerry was born in Fond du Lac on July 12, 1923, the son of the late, Clarence and Estella (née: Parman) Steeves. Jerry was a Washington Park High School graduate "Class of 1941". He proudly served his country during World War II in the Army-Air Corps. He was united in marriage to Marion Zierke on December 15, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Jerry was employed for many years as a milkman for Marigold Dairy, followed by a beer deliveryman at Schlitz, and then delivered for Christensen Woodworking. He was a 60 year member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Jerry was also a member of the Fifth Street Yacht Club since 1961. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, snowmobiling and traveling. In October 2011, Jerry had the privilege to go on the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight with other WWII veterans. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Pam Steeves, granddaughter, Ashley (Joe) Whitt, all of Franksville, sister-in-law, Joanne Steeves of Racine, and brother-in-law, Norman Hansen of Racine. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Marion on January 24, 2007 and a brother, Ray Steeves on August, 18, 2013. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Jennings officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at West Lawn Memorial Park following services. There will be a visitation at Sturino Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight or Trinity Lutheran Church Hand Bell Choir have been suggested by the family.
