Ralph Hobbick Obituary

BURLINGTON - Ralph Joseph Hobbick, 78, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011, at Aurora Burlington Hospital. He was born October 2, 1932, to Clement and Grace (nee: McCluskey) Hobbick in Menomonie, where he spent his early life and graduated from Menomonie High School. On October 1, 1955, he was married to Joan R. Barker at St. John the Baptist Church in Chicago, Ill. Ralph volunteered to serve in the Army from October 2, 1952, until October of 1954. While in the service, he was in the Third Armored Division, 101st Airborne Division and spent time in Augsburg, Germany before his discharge at Fort Sheridan, Ill. Ralph had various occupations. He was a Dispatcher and Truck Driver for Quality Carriers; he was the Owner and Operator of the Dog House Tavern, was a Director of Operations for Industrial Fuel Oil, worked for Global Petroleum, a Dispatcher for J.J. Transport, and a Traffic Manager at Echo Lake Produce and K-Line Trucking before retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Charles, a previous member of the Burlington Lions Club and Oak Creek Kiwanis Club. Ralph loved to play the board game Joker with his family and friends. He enjoyed golfing and taking care of his home, especially the yardwork and his flowers. Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his daughter, Cathleen Vos; his grandson, Christopher (Dawn) Vos; great-grand- children, Layla and Nathan; his brothers, Edward and Harold (Orbana) Hobbick; and his sister- in-law, Margaret Hobbick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Grace; his sons, Bill and John Hobbick; a grandson, Bryan Vos; and his siblings, Mary Wald, Rosie Kohn, Francis, Margaret Ales, Thomas, and John. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 15, 2011, at 12 noon at St. Charles Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Amann officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Charles Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Schuette- Daniels Funeral Home.
