MILWAUKEE - Rt. Rev. Roger John White, Born in Leeds, England January 31, 1941. Born into Eternal Life on August 27, 2012 following complications from a ruptured brain aneurysm suffered on August 9, 2012. Roger was a graduate of Kelham Theological College in England, and was sponsored by Michael Ramsey, then Archbishop of Canterbury for a World Council of Church scholarship at Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves MO. He returned to England to complete his seminary education, was ordained, and then served in the parish of St. James, Manston,Leeds (1966-1969). He emigrated to the US in 1969 and served the parishes of St. Alban's, Olney IL (1969-1971); St. Paul's and Trinity Chapel in Alton IL (1971-1980); and Trinity Church and St. Richard's School in Indianapolis (1980-1984). In 1984 he was elected by the Diocese of Milwaukee to be their 10th bishop, and was the youngest at the time (age 43) to be elected a bishop in the Episcopal Church. He served the diocese until he retired in 2003. Beloved husband for 46 years of Pru (nee Paine). Proud and loving father of Marcus (Ann) of Milwaukee, Suzannah (George) Fischer of Colorado Springs CO, and Charles (Lisa) of Racine. Devoted Papa of Sebastian White, Jack, Henry and Molly Fischer. Also survived by his sister Joselyn Klare of Dortmund, Germany; six nephews, one niece, brother-in-law Gregory Paine of Elk River MN; and his in-laws, Henry and Ruth Paine of Racine (formerly of Mason City IA). Also grieving is his beloved Westie, Clyde. Preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Hettie, sister Marjory Shakesby, and brother Dennis. His life will be celebrated on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at The Cathedral of All Saints, 818 E. Juneau Ave., Milwaukee. The family will great friends in the Cathedral Library from 4p.m. until the time of the service. A reception will follow in the Guild Hall.
