Stephen R. Horvath RACINE — Surrounded by his loving family, Stephen R. Horvath, age 91, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at his residence. Stephen was born in Racine, May 12, 1921, son of the late Stephen and Mary (Nee: Vareb) Horvath and was a lifelong Racine resident. Stephen was a graduate of William Horlick High School "Class of 1939". On April 25, 1942 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Oak Creek, he was united in marriage to Frances C. Noll. He was employed by S.C. Johnson Wax for thirty-six years, retiring in 1981, and was proud of his numerous patents. Stephen was a member of St. Mary's by the Lake Catholic Church. He was a charter board member and was instrumental with the building of St. Monica's Senior Citizen Home. Stephen stayed active in the community and served as former Chairman and Supervisor of Caledonia. A man of many talents, he will be best remembered for his love and devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed. Survivors include his loving wife of seventy years, Frances; his eight children, Stephen (Judy) Horvath, Barbara McClure, Daniel (Ellen) Horvath, Mary (Phil) Hines, Dr. Albert (Jane) Horvath, Frances (John) Ray, Patricia Horvath (Allan Oakes), David (Kathy) Horvath; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Kowalsky, Irene Smith; sister-in-law, Anna Zurawski; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Thursday, November 15, 2012, 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's by the Lake Catholic Church, 7605 Lakeshore Drive, with Rev. Stephen J. Stradinger officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy. 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Monica's Senior Citizen Home have been suggested.
