Judith Greb Obituary

Judith Hope Greb “Judy” RACINE- Judith Hope Greb, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday morning, April 12, 2013 following a courageous 5-year battle with cancer. Judy was born in Kenosha on December 18, 1934 to Fernando and Antonia (nee: Perez) Marquez. Tragically, her mother died shortly after giving birth to Judy. Thus, her grandparents (of whom were Mexican immigrants), Casimira and Fermin Perez, stepped in to raise Judy and her sister, Elvira. Judy admired her grandparents and often said that they were the most loving and generous people one could ever hope to have in guiding the early path of life. Judy attended St. Mark’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. During her working career, she was employed by St. Catherine’s Hospital, Famco Machine Co., and Heritage Bank - from where she retired. Judy was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Lucy Church. Among her interests, she enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing, reading and travelling – having the opportunity to visit 26 countries during her lifetime. Above all, she deeply loved her family and cherished every moment spent in their surroundings. Surviving are her children, Lisa (Mark) Seversky, Mike (Jessica) Greb and Cindy (Tom) Dovas; treasured grandchildren, Noel and Jillian Seversky; Nolan and Hunter Greb; Twila, Kalai and Christos Dovas; sister, Elvira Covelli; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Dave) Kohler and Judy (Rich) Bohaczek; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and grandparents, Judy was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Luigi “Mario” Covelli; and nephew, Jerry Covelli. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 10:00 am in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Rev. Mark R. Jones and Rev. Sean Granger officiating. A luncheon will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 pm and in the church on Wednesday from 9-10 am. Private interment will take place in St. James Cemetery – Kenosha. A special note of thanks to Heartland Hospice – especially Amy and Carly, for the compassionate end-of-life care and support given in Judy’s time of need. May God bless all of you!
