RACINE - Barbara Louise Buchaklian, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014. Barbara was the daughter of the late Elmer and Agnes (née, Pfister) Eickhorst. Barbara retired from Western Publishing, after 33 years. In her retirement she had been a member of the church Ladies Auxiliary and with her closest and dearest friend Sonia Buchaklian helped for the Armenian Picnic, especially making the "Best" pilaf. Barbara loved to bake her Hello Dollies, loved to read until her eyesight failed, and knitted afghans, but most of all she loved making crib quilts for each of her God-children's growing families. This was her labor of love. Barbara is survived by her husband, Herman; sister, Carol (Mike) Corona; sisters-in-law, Lucy Buchaklian and Helen Nelson; nephews, Michael (Jackie) Corona and Jim Corona; niece, Sue (Tom) Lynch and their families. The joy of her life was her God-children, Peter and John Buchaklian, Catherine Litton and Sara Corona. She was also very close to the Buchaklian cousins, Rose, Anna, Mary, Sam and John (Maree). Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Hovsep and Julia Buchaklian; brother- in-law, Allen "Bud" Nelson; and dear best friends, Sonia Buchaklian and Ani Buchaklian. Funeral services for Barbara will be held at St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, 4100 N. Newman Road, on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Daron Stepanian officiating.
