The Honorable Sheedy, Patrick T. Entered Eternal Life on January 13, 2012, at age 90. Beloved husband of the late Margaret "Mugs" (nee Mulvaney). Dear and loving father of Michael Sheedy, Mary (Tom) Goss, Kathy (Mark Pedriani) Sheedy, Patrick Sheedy, Jr., Anne (Fritz) Seidel and Molly (Jeff) Simon. Grandpa "Judge" to Brigid, Ted, Kevin (Nikki), Joe, Kate, Janine, Gabrielle, Kate, Jennifer, Molly, Fritz, Isabel, Taylor, Jennifer, Jeff, Alex and Mikaela. Brother-in-law of Patricia Mulvaney. He was born to Elsie Brauel and Earl Sheedy on October 31, 1921 in Green Bay, WI. An alumnus of Shorewood High School (1939). His undergraduate degree in Business at Marquette University was interrupted when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943. After serving in World War II in both the U.S. and the Far East from 1943-1946, he graduated from Marquette University Law School with the stellar class of 1948. It was there at Marquette that he met his future wife "Mugs" on a blind date. They were married in St. John's Cathedral in September 1952, and raised six children together. He opened and ran a private litigation practice from 1948-1980 with a variety of distinguished associates while also acting as a court commissioner and public administrator. He journeyed to Chicago for over five years to earn his LL.M Degree (taxation) from John Marshall Law School in 1972. In 1974, he was elected President of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He was a long term State Bar Delegate and Board of Governors of the American Bar Association. Always one for a challenge, in 1979, at age 58, he decided to embark upon a new career. He ran for and was elected to the Milwaukee Country Circuit Court. In 1990, he was appointed Chief Judge of Milwaukee County, retiring in 1998, but continuing to serve as a reserve judge for several years. Proud to be a member of the 84th Reserve Division, he served as a Military Judge from 1965 to retirement, when he was awarded the Legion of Merit. He retired as a Colonel in the JAG Corps. His sense of humor, kindness, and love for the law and history were some of his most admirable qualities. He relished his time at the family's Beaver Lake cottage, where he spent quality time with his kids and grandkids. Thanks to Mugs for making him buy that cottage in 1969! We will miss you Pops. Visitation will be held Monday, January 16, from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM at St. Monica Catholic Church, 5601 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Whitefish Bay, WI 53217, corner of N. Santa Monica Blvd. and E. Silver Spring Dr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM. Private interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Monica Parish, Marquette University Law School, 1215 N. Michigan Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53233, or charity of your choice. May your day be touched by a bit of Irish luck, brightened by a song in your heart, and warmed by the smiles of the people you love.

Here was a man, an honest & true JUDGE, I didn't know him well, as I was a Sergeant with the MCSD from 1950 to 1990. Judge Sheedy was one of "The Best" that held his position to the highest regard. He served all well and with intelligence.

I'm sorry to have missed his funeral. He was the greatest person I ever worked with. Once in a while I'd go into his office and ask him to recite his list of Irish jokes. He was a wonderful, witty, intelligent man.

I just learned of the sad news of Judge Sheedy's passing today while out of town. He was one of the most honorable persons I have known in my lifetime. I am most grateful for the support and mentoring he gave me early in my career. My heartfelt condolences to the Sheedy family.

He was a real delight to interract with and was very congenial with a good sense of humor. He made me feel like I was a friend that he had known for years. My condolences to the children of Judge Sheedy.I remember when my father was alive and practicing law speaking very highly of your father as person, a lawyer and a judge. I also remember him as a very friendly and pleasant former neighbor who would be down at the end of his drive way every Wednesday putting out the garbage cans. He would wave to me as I passed by in my car or say "Hello" to me as I walked passed his house and ask "How are you?" I also know a couple who adopted a child from another country many years ago and the judge who was to finalize the adoption for this couple was on vacation and so your father stepped in and handled it for them. I remember the mother telling me how nice and sweet the judge that finalized the adoption for them was. It was one of the happiest days of their lives thanks to your father.
