Schweda, Donald F. Passed away peacefully on February 26, 2014 at the age of 88. Beloved husband to the late Marian for 66 years. Loving father of Sue (Ken) Wisniewski and Traxanne (Jim) Port. Proud grandpa of Alison, Alexandra and the late Jon Port. Dear brother of the late Iris Schircely. Further survived by many sisters in-law, brothers in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Don was a lifetime Milwaukee resident graduating from West Division High School. Just days after graduation he went in to the Navy and served in the south Pacific during World War II. After he left the service he went to the state teachers college (now UWM) to study for an art degree. He didn't finish his degree, but passed on his ability in art to his two granddaughters, one of whom will receive a Bachelors of Fine Art degree from University of Wisconsin, Madison this Spring. Don met his future wife Marian Traxler at an Eagles Ball Room dance. As the family story goes - he knew instantly she was the one for him, showing up daily waiting for her to get out of work at The Telephone Company, following her out west where she had transferred to be near her siblings. After convincing her to come back to Milwaukee, they were married five months later. Don served an apprenticeship in sheet metal becoming a journeyman. He worked for various outside shops and for the majority of his career worked for AC/Delco in Oak Creek. Don tended his garden and lawn with pride, never was without a joke, and tirelessly drove his kids to many activities when they were growing up. He will be forever loved and deeply missed. Visitation at the funeral home Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 1PM until time of the Funeral service at 4PM. Burial with Military Honors 11:30AM on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Dr. (please meet in the red parking area).
