Madison. Died on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at home in his sleep. Born on September 28, 1931 in Janesville, the son of Adrian and Margaret (Graykowski) DeBlaey. He graduated from the Wisconsin School of the Visually Handicapped in Janesville in 1950; after which he obtained degrees in Mathematics and Physics from Platteville State Teachers College. He then taught at the Maryland School for the Blind for 4 years. He then returned to Wisconsin where he held several positions with the State of Wisconsin Bureau for the Blind. Prior to his retirement in 1985 he served as Executive Director of the Badger Association of the Blind and Visually Impairment in Milwaukee. He was an active member of several local, state, and national associations of the blind where he contributed countless hours of volunteer service. Survivors include his wife, Virginia (Leach) DeBlaey, sister, Arlene (Vernon) Hoffman of Janesville, and niece Marie (Larry) Koch of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Leslie. A memorial service will be held at ATTIC ANGEL PLACE, (community room), 8301 Old Sauk Rd., in Madison at 11:45 A.M. on Wednesday, January 11, 2006. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired, 754 Williamson St., Madison, WI 53703.
