Florian C. "Sarge" Surwillo

Surwillo, Florian C. "Sarge" Age 92, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Loving husband of Cecelia (nee Krawczyk). Dear father of Darlene (John) Kozarek, Robert (Deborah) and Patricia (Richard) Gutowski. Proud "Grampa" of the late Chad, Anthony, Christopher (Kelly), Justin (Katie), Emily, Erin (fiancé Dan), Katherine and Robert. Loving "dziadzia" of Brenna and Adelyn. Dear brother to Adeline (the late Carl) Strozk and brother-in-law to Alice Surwillo. Also survived by other relatives and friends. Sarge was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Blanche and his brothers Richard (Mildred) and Dr. Ervin Surwillo. A proud WWII veteran, Sarge served honorably in the West Pacific as a Motor Sergeant and received numerous citations and decorations throughout his service. On November 5, 2011, Sarge was pleased to participate in the "Honor Flight". He went on to spend over 30 years as a fire fighter with Local 215, Milwaukee Professional Fire Fighters Association. Sarge enjoyed traveling with his wife, and the two traveled extensively. His greatest love, however, was for his family and spending time at the "Greater Alarm" in northern Wisconsin. He will be sadly missed. The visitation will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 5 to 7PM. Additional visitation will be in church on Tuesday, October 30 from 10 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM at BLESSED JOHN PAUL II PARISH, ST. ALEXANDER CHURCH (1568 W. Holt Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53215.) Entombment with full military honors will follow in St. Adalbert Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mateo, the staff of Golden Living Center, Heritage Square and the staff of Asera Care Hospice for their heartfelt and most compassionate care. Your efforts will never be forgotten. For those wishing memorials are appreciated to the Fallen Fire Fighter's Memorial Fund or to Penfield's Burn Center.
