Florian E. Sobczak

Sobczak, Florian E. Battalion Chief, Ret. MFD Born on December 31, 1925 and passed away peacefully on March 16, 2013, age 87 years. Beloved husband of the late Genevieve (nee Gruchalski) for 46 happy years. Loving father of Jane Sobczak and Janice (Charles W.) Kopplin. Proud grandfather of Lisa (Brad) Zasada, Charles R. (Nicolette) Kopplin and Caroline Kopplin. Great-grandfather of Audrey, Walter and Mariel. Devoted brother of the late Jane (the late Harry) Lewandowski. Further survived by other family and many dear friends. Florian was a retired Battalion Chief with the Milwaukee Fire Department, having served for 42 years. He was beloved by fellow firefighters and members of the Milwaukee Fire Bell Club. He was a member of the Milwaukee Fire Department Retirees Association and St. Jude's League. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin and Canada. Florian was a World War II veteran serving as a radioman in the United States Marine Corps during the occupation of Japan. Visitation at the Funeral Home, Thursday, March 21, 2013, 8:00-10:45AM. Funeral at 11:00 AM from the Funeral Home to THE BASILICA OF ST. JOSAPHAT for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Entombment to follow at Forest Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Basilica of St. Josaphat are appreciated.
