Stasek, Gilbert "Gil" Age 85, of Green Lake, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the Berlin Memorial Hospital. Gil was born January 12, 1928, in Yuba, WI, the son of Frank and Martha (Kubiak) Stasek. Upon graduating from high school, he went on to serve our country as a Sargent (Security Agent) in the United States Army, and fought in the Korean Conflict from July of 1949; August of 1952. In 1975, Gil married Marianne "Mary"; Frenzel in Milwaukee, WI. Gil completed six plus years of education at both University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, and University of Wisconsin-Madison. He had a passion for education and spent his life teaching both History and Latin at several schools including those in Orangevale, CA; Watertown, WI; D.C. Everest in Schofield, WI; and Whitnall School District in Milwaukee, where he eventually retired as a teacher from. Gil was a member of Wisconsin Education Association, National Education Association, and Czech Genological Society International. Survivors include his wife, Mary Stasek; sisters, Maruleen (Jim) Mullins, Rothschild, WI, Doris (Robert) Schremp/ Bob Willis, Antigo, WI, Norma (Richard) Winter, Antigo, WI; brother-in-law, Ken Henry, Milwaukee, WI; step-brother, Jerome (Linda) Pitts, Raleigh, NC; step-sister, Rose Marie (Robert "Tony") Ziegert, Jumping Branch, WV; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Shirley Henry. A service for Gil Stasek will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 530 Ruth Street, Green Lake, WI 54941. Father Philip Krogman will officiate.
