Joseph T. Larscheid Sr.(1930 - 2014)

Larscheid, Joseph T., Sr. Entered into the fullness of Eternal Life on February 16, 2014, at the age of 83. He was born at St. Mary's Hospital, Milwaukee, WI on July 2, 1930, the last of 10 children of ecclesiastical designer, Frank E. Larscheid and wife, Mary A. Larscheid who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joan Larscheid. He is further survived by 4 children: Mary A. Reynolds, Joseph T. (Judith) Larscheid, Ellen Larscheid and Patricia Larscheid. Also grandsons, Harald, Samuel and William Reynolds and granddaughter, Elizabeth Larscheid. As well as a brother, George of Madison and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen Bernauer, Martha Mueller, Trudie Maas, Ann Wilder and Mary Larscheid; brothers, Phillip, Frank E. Jr. and Rupert. After returning from two years of service in the army with the 7th Division in Korea, Larscheid soon entered Ripon College. He graduated in 1957 with an AB degree in Economics. While a student at Ripon, he directed the college's "One Fund Drive", served as business manager of the college year book and assisted in the merger of his local fraternity into Sigma Alpha Epsilon National Fraternity. After graduating from Ripon, he joined the Allstate Insurance Co. in California. Returning to Milwaukee in 1958, he joined Chris Schroeder & Son Insurance Inc. as a salesman. During the next 35 years, he would lead a group of employees who purchased the company from the estate of Walter Schroeder. In that span of 35 years he went from salesman to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. His career in the insurance industry included an appointment by Gov. Knowles to the State of Wisconsin Insurance Advisory Board. He also served on the Advisory Council of the Continental Ins. Co., Commercial Union Ins. Co. and CIGNA Insurance. He was a Republican Committee man in Whitefish Bay and served 14 years on the Whitefish Bay Board of Review. He was a lifelong member of the North Shore American Legion Post and former long-term member of the University Club. In retirement, he volunteered in the Advancement Office at Cardinal Stritch University, eventually joining the Board of Trustees where he would serve for 9 years. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM in St. Anne's Chapel at the Milwaukee Catholic Home with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 AM.
