Lawrence J. "Larry" Barnett

Barnett, Lawrence J. "Larry" Died on October 14, 2012, at the age of 86. Resident of Glendale. Husband of Martha Bergland. Father of Paul Barnett, John Barnett and Tom (Jacque) Barnett. Further survived by many good friends. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Larry attended Abraham Lincoln High School, Brooklyn College and New York University. He was a jazz musician and artistic wood worker and furniture maker. He worked for seven years at the Center for Urban Education in New York City and then taught and wrote about the sociology of organizations at UWM for 30 years. When he worked in music, he was a member of musicians' unions in New York and Milwaukee and he was an active member and president of The Association of University of Wisconsin Professionals, Local 3535. Larry Barnett was politically active throughout his life in the cause of social justice. There will be a gathering for friends and family from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Friday, November 2, at the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, 2220 N. Terrace Ave., Milwaukee. Memorials in Dr. Barnett's name may be made to the NAMI Greater Milwaukee (Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Greater Milwaukee), 3732 W.
