Marguerite S. Tozer(1928 - 2013)

Tozer, Marguerite S. Marguerite Semple Tharp Tozer, age 84, of Mukwonago, WI, passed away on September 11, 2013. She was born to the late Ruth and John Tharp, September 24, 1928, in Hyde Park Chicago, IL. Marguerite received degrees from William Woods College and Michigan State University, and attended the University of Chicago for graduate work. She married the Rev. Stanley M. Tozer in 1953 and they lived together in Gary, IN; Cincinnati, OH; Lincoln Park, MI; Palatine, IL; and Zanesville, OH before relocating to their much beloved family home on the shores of Lake Michigan, in Saugatuck, MI. Marguerite followed her passion for education and English, becoming a teacher's aide in Palatine, and eventually a social worker for the Head Start Program, working in Appalachian region and southwestern Michigan. She was active in the Presbyterian Churches where her husband ministered, and later in the Community Church of Douglas, MI. Marguerite is survived by four great grandchildren, five grandchildren, and four children, Ruth Tozer (Alberto Castro) of Mukwonago, WI; Stanley Tozer (Barbara Busharis) of Tallahassee, FL; Hugh Tozer (Kathryn Reid) of Portland, ME; and Marguerite Tozer of Waverly, OH. Our family extends our deep appreciation to the staff of the LindenGrove facility in Mukwonago, who provided such loving and good care of our mother over the past several years. Ruth thanks all friends in the Mukwonago area and at Mukwonago Athletic Club for their love and support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to or the LindenGrove Foundation. There will be a memorial service in Saugatuck, MI, in summer 2014.
