Mary A. West

West, Mary A. (Nee Gembicki) Beloved wife of the late Dewain L. "Bud" West. Died on Wed., April 17, 2013, at the age of 86. Dear Mother of Alan (Fran), Gregory, Janice (Gordon) Kielski and Randy. Loving grandmother of Kip (Mary E.), Jeff (Michelle), Leisa, Laken (fiancee Nick), and Crystal (fiancee Mike). Fond Sister of Roman Gembicki, Esther Pachowicz, the late Laura Reyment, the late Edwin Gembicki, and the late Thaddeus "Ted" Lubomeroff. Further survived by 9 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Funeral Service on Tues., April 30 at 9:30 AM from the Funeral Home to St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, S. 21st Street and W. Mitchell Street, for the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Interment Wood National Cemetery. Visitation at the Funeral Home Monday 4-8 PM. VFW Ladies Auxiliary Service at 6:30 PM followed by a Prayer Service at 7 PM. Mary Worked at First Wisconsin National Bank, she started Nov. 20, 1943 while in High School. It became First-Star and now is US Bank. She retired after 57 years at the age of 81. Mary worked on a farm during summer vacations, at Jewette and Sherman Produce House, packing Java for the boys in the service from 3 to 10 PM. She folded Red Cross bandages during the war. She belonged to the St. Hyacinth Dramatic Club and performed in several stage plays at the church hall. She bowled in a league for over thirty years. Mary taught English at the Laubach Literacy Center on 29th and Wells for 2 years and then at US Bank Community Service for 8 years. During her 49 years of marriage Mary furthered her education by attending night and day classes. Mary was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary for over 40 years. She was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW post 2874. A life member of 1061 IAM Union Retirees Club, life member of the Saratoga Ship, Past president of the fourth District of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of WI., and a member of the Womens's Auxillary to the MOC (Military Order of the Cooties) since March of 1981.
