Nicholas W. Pilugin

Pilugin, Nicholas W. Pilugin, Nicholas W., 57, passed away January 17, 2013, in Fairfax, VA, after battling brain cancer. Dear father to Noah Pilugin. Born August 17, 1955 in Milwaukee, WI to Maria Pilugin and the late Wassily Pilugin. Brother to Anna (Norm) Donkersloot and Irene (Walt) Skipper. Nicholas attended Washington High School and graduated from Pulaski High. He loved astronomy and in the 70's was very active in the Milwaukee Astronomical Society. He lived in Minneapolis for many years and attended the University of Minneapolis. He was an avid photographer and freelance writer for 23 years. Nicholas loved his Russian heritage; moving to Moscow with his wife in 1991 and worked as a freelance journalist. He reported on the coup when the USSR fell. He created an Expat Moscow list to help foreigners living there to connect and share info. After 10 years, they moved to the Washington, D.C. area. Nicholas studied International Service at American University. Nicholas was a managing editor at General Dynamics Information Technology. He is survived by nieces Katy Donkersloot, Liz Donkersloot, nephew Jon Skipper, other family and friends and his partner, Maya Bridi, who lovingly helped him as he struggled along this journey.
