Donovan, Richard James, Sr. "Dick" Born to Eternal Life November 13, 2013 at age 86, beloved husband of Joan Frances Donovan (nee Niedzweicki), loving father of Dr. Daniel (Kathleen) Donovan, Colleen (Mark) Schneider, Michael (Teresa) Donovan, James (Barbara) Donovan, Richard (Mary) Donovan, 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren plus more on the way, many nephews, nieces and friends. Dick was born on September 28, 1927 in WW II as a seaman first class, assigned to the construction brigade of the U.S. Navy
. After the war he served his electrical apprenticeship with the Milwaukee Railroad. Dick continued to work for the RR for over 40 years and was a member of the IBEW. He was blessed with talents in the mechanical and electrical field. He invented and patented a Dead Man's switch for locomotives, helped design the turn clock table for the Milwaukee Road roundhouse in the Menomonie Valley, and locomotive rotary snow blowers used in the 1960's and later. His hobbies included building an electric car featured at Earth Day celebration the "Small is Beautiful Fair" in Milwaukee. He will be remembered for caring for his wife and fixing almost everything. In the words of Dick Donovan: "I am at peace with God, at peace with my family, and at peace with myself". Mass of Christian Burial 2:30 PM.
