Gess, Roxanne L. (Nee Burns) Age 64, of Brookfield and Lac du Flambeau, WI, died peacefully October 2, 2012, following a courageous 20 year battle with breast cancer
. She was born December 22, 1947, in Racine, WI, to the late Jesse and Alice Burns. Roxanne graduated from William Horlick High School in 1966. In 1978, she and her daughter Danielle moved from Racine to Wauwatosa, WI. On January 6, 1984, Roxanne married Charles H. Gess. Roxanne spent 30 years with the telephone company including, Wisconsin Bell, Ameritech and AT&T. At the age of 49 Roxanne retired and spent the past 15 years enjoying retirement with Charles in their little piece of heaven on earth in the north woods of Wisconsin. Roxanne is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 30 years, Charles, their four children Christopher Gess, Fond du Lac; Andrea (Daniel) Reed, Watertown; Nicole (David) Miller, Cedarburg; Danielle (Hans) Melgaard, Mequon; eight grandchildren Hailey and Charlie Gess, Breanna and Kenneth Reed, Brittney and Katelyn Miller, Hans Logan and Delaney Melgaard and one brother, Jesse Dennis Burns, Green Bay. She is further survived by her brother-in-law Wayne Desens and nephews Kenneth, William and Randall Desens as well as cousins and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her sister Patricia Desens. Roxanne was extremely proud of her children, she relished in the joy of being a grandparent and loved to share the beauty of up north with family and friends. She was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. She loved reading, cross stitching, playing games and cards and doing puzzles. Roxanne and Charles weren't much for Wisconsin winters and loved escaping to Florida to relax, fish and spend time with family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, October 8, 2012, from 3:00 PM until the time of service at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Elmbrook Humane Society or Zilber Family Hospice are appreciated. The family would like to thank Dr. Gilberto Rodrigues for his expert care and friendship over the past 10 years and the nurses and staff at the Lombardi Cancer Center in Summit. They would also like to thank her nurse Forest and the staff at the VNA as well as Dr. Ragalie, Dr. Thiel, her nurse Pauline and all the other wonderful compassionate nurses, CNAs and staff at Zilber Family Hospice.
