Memories and Condolences
for Georgia Fitzwilliams

Not sure what to say?

October 21, 2011

Dear Fitzwilliams family, My condolences. I read your mother's story in the paper. It was inspirational and empowering. It brought tears to my eyes. I hope the Fitzwilliams family and others who have been in similar battles continue to carry Mrs. Fitzwilliam's torch for health care reform. Respectfully, a stranger.

To the Fitzwilliams family, I had the pleasure of getting to know and work with Georgia at AQS for a few years. She was a wonderful woman, with a heart of gold, and a passion for life, something I thank her for and getting to know her, my prayers and thoughts to the family.

As your only babysitter all 6 kids for all those years. Then I just kinda moved in, caught the bus by the driveway. The older the kids got the more kids were there. There was so much love and respect for one another in that house. Its real easy for me to say that as I also grew up with the Fitz kids.Babysitting went smooth for the most part (Jeff and Craig excuded)Trips to out west camping eating cream cheese and crakers was a once in a liftetime of memories. Being a good person in her prescence was a piece of cake because she always made you feel good about your self it came eaisly for her to give you that feeling.
She showed me and told me if you wanted somthing bad enough she knew the way and could always help and she did. I really was a lucky person I had my own family they were great too but there was no place like the Fitzwilliams, the kids and I and George and anyone that new her knew she was a very special and a smart person. I lost another mother in Georgia and the special times and talks we had. She with her cancer and is sick everyday with it and I was having a difficult time she said move home with us you can have your old room back. What a woman she was. I love you Fitwilliams and always will. I will continue spending time there weekends with my Dad. Just one person, the main person that will be missing from the kitchen table. But she will, is and will forver be in that house. I use to tell Georgia your a saint and your gonna live on forever. I believe she is too. LeeAnn

To the entire Fitzwilliams family, I am very sorry for your lose of a very special lady. I know from our conversations how much all of you meant to Georgia and how passionate she was for healthcare reform. Georgia and I were close coworkers at two different companies and kept in touch off and on afterward until I lost touch with her. Georgia was one of the rare people you meet in life that genuinely cared about others. It was a pleasure to work with her and getting to know her on a personal level. My heartfelt sympathy is extended to you all.

My heartfelt sorrow and deepest sympathy goes out to the Fitzwilliam family. Although I haven't seen your family in quite awhile, memories of Georgia go back decades when the kids were in Little League and we waitressed together at Scenic View. Energetic, positive, kind, beautiful, hard-working, moral-- all these words could aptly describe Georgia back then. I specifically remember the respect and admiration Scott voiced toward his mom at that time. Tears come to my eyes as so many retell the impact this wonderful woman had on so many people. All the attributes that described Georgia way back still seem to be characteristic of her at the time of her passing. What a rich and purposeful life she has led! What an example she has been to her children and grandchildren! May all the treasured memories you have of Georgia help to ease your sorrow during this time. You all are in my prayers.

…not sure I can put words to the gratitude I have for you. You made me feel as if I was part of your family. Thirty-some years ago, I remember saying to myself ‘someday I’d like to be like that’. Today I still say the same thing - and I try. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to hold a candle next to yours but I have one heck of a lead to follow. My friendship with your family remains strong as ever and I can’t begin to thank you enough for that gift. What a remarkable lady. Godspeed.

Our sympathies to the entire Fitzwilliams family in this time of sorrow, but also celebration of Georgia's life. I will remember her warm personality, spirit, and smile. I have always felt a special connection with your family, from being friends with Cathy in college, knowing Craig, Jeff, and Tom at work and around Baraboo, finding out later your connections to my uncle "Father Tony", and the blessing that Tom and Kate introduced me to my wife Korie. My thoughts and prayers, and those of Korie and Ella, are with you!

God bless you, Georgia, the bravest woman I ever met. We started off as business colleagues and became friends, a friendship I cherished and always will. She was smart, cheerful, ever optimistic, filled with faith and never too busy to lend an ear. Her passing leaves a void in so many lives but I know I'll see her again so I won't say goodbye. See you later, Georgia. Love you.
