Mary Bowers Obituary

Bowers, Mary C. (Nee Copps ). May 1, 1952- June 8, 2015. She left us filled with hope. Inspired by her undaunted bravery and strength, she breathed life into us daily yet she could barely breathe. She taught us loyalty, humility, humbleness, tenacity. The more she gave the greater her purpose. She was grounded in faith. We lived swimming in Mary's thoughtfulness, generosity and boundless caring, never knowing when the next unexpected, precious (and sometimes annoying) gift would arrive. Heaven opened Monday as God, the saints, and all the family pets were waiting for this Beloved and Feisty One. She adored her family, pastors, friends, doctors, nurses and vets. Mary is survived by husband, Tim "Timmers" Bowers; brothers, Pat "Son" (Mary) Copps, Peter "Shag" (Kathy) Copps, Kevin "Bud" (Sid) Copps and sister, Ann "Loper" Copps; and many nieces, nephews and dogs Gibbs and Glad. Her humor and sarcasm had no boundaries nor her practical jokes! Perhaps you woke up to find a blow- up doll on your porch. UPS, FedEx and USPS came and went on Newberry and she helped the Goodwill shelves stay filled. Good-bye for now Tootle Bug, Beeks, Deacon Duchess, the Gal, Megan, Lotus, Mama P, MB and Mavis. Oh, to live our lives like our dear Mary. She was and is our earthly tour guide as we search for strength, dignity, love, peace, faith, forgiveness and honor. She found humor even in her darkest hours. Now she loves us as sunlight breaking through the storm cloud, the leaf quietly landing upon the stream, the clink of your glass at the next special gathering, and, of course, the bark of any dog we hear. Mary's memorial service and reception will be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 1100 N. Astor St., Milwaukee 53202 at 3:00 PM June 20, 2015. Gifts to Immanuel Presbyterian Church and the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin would be appreciated by Mary. Please do not send flowers. In life and in death we belong to God.

My deepest condolences to the family. Mostly condolences should go to this planet. Because, if you happened to be someone that never met Mary, you simply missed out on one of the best this world had to offer.
I cannot tell you how many practical jokes she played in my store. She was full of love.

I am a better person for having met her.

The candle she lit is a perpetual light that will always be reflected in those she touched. What a beautiful legacy to treasure.

Mary loved life as much as anyone I ever met. She was loved by all, and will be missed by all.
