I knew Paul through Beale House Witte B while at UW - Madison. I will always remember his quick smile, great sense of humor and love of music. His rendition of "Peanuts" during the early morning hours with chants of "Zandt Man" from his Beale House groupies will forever stay with me. Also vivid was his weather forecast from the roof top of Witte Hall after a night of revelry. My heart goes out to his family at this profound loss. I hope you can take solace in looking to sky and feel the same wonder and awe that Paul did. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My dorm room in Witte B was adjacent to Paul's and I thought of him often. We had lively debates covering a myriad of topics and enjoyed many late nights listening to records and cassettes with a few libations. I regret that I did not look him up I always had planned to in the back of my mind.

Joan & Family, I am so sorry to hear of Paul's death. I lived across the hall from Paul in Beale House in Witte Dorm at UW. That was an exciting time for us young men and many memories were made. One of those is when Paul taught me, a non-musical person, the opening notes of "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" on the keyboard in his dorm room. On one visit home to Wisconsin I was surprised and happy to see Paul on the local news. We did not stay in touch after we left school and thus I enjoyed reading of his full life and accomplishments, providing some comfort at the loss of a good man. My deepest sympathies for your loss.

I was saddened to see the news of Paul's passing at such a young age. Years ago, as a second grade teacher, Paul came every year to my classroom to share information about meteorolgy during our weather unit. He was so kind, humble, passionate about his subject and good with the children. Since the station wouldn't allow the schools to have the meterologists every year, Paul would make every effort to come to our school even on his day off. The kids were so impressed with this local celebrity! My prayers to his family on the loss of a wonderful man.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your beloved Husband, Father, and Son. I worked with Paul in the weather department at KWQC in the Quad Cities, and he was an excellent meteorologist, a kind and thoughtful co-worker, and a wonderful friend. His talent was immense, and I learned so much from him. It was an honor, pleasure and privilege to have been his friend and co-worker.
Please know that I am so sorry for your loss, and will keep you, his dear family, in prayer during this difficult time.

Joan and family,
I'm shocked and saddened by Paul's passing. While I lost touch with him through the years, I've never forgotten our time together on the anchor desk at KWQC. During his time in the Quad Cities, he was one of my closest friends. He was a talented and professional meteorologist, but more importantly, he was an incredible human being. To his sons, while I've never met you, please know your dad dreamed of being a father, returning to Wisconsin to raise his family and his love for your mother was evident to all who knew him. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Mike Mickle

I am honored to have been able to meet and get to know Paul, if only through a few conversations. I was introduced to him through Pastor David after he starting playing keyboards for our church's contemporary services and was priveleged to hear him play on several other occasions after that - at church and with the band Half Life. What an incredible talent he had for turning notes into beautiful, uplifting, inspiring and often rocking melodies! His musicianship was only surpassed by his kind, humble spirit, which was made evident in the way he spoke, especially when he talked about his family. All of you have my sincere sympathy and abundant prayers for peace and comfort.

My fondest memories of Paul will be of him and Joan sitting at a table enjoying whatever band was playing (very much as his Facebook profile picture shows). He was a gentle soul who was incredibly talented. He will be greatly missed by the community of musicians which he was a part of.

Joan and family, I am so shocked and sorry for your loss. I had the great privledge of being in a band with Paul. His kindness and talent were immeasurable! We also shared a love for weather and were the ones who always watched the sky when we had our "Halflife" gigs. Until we are together again and play in that "Great Gig in the Sky".
