Dear Carol, Charlie and Courtney,
David was such a wonderful, funny and special friend. How we enjoyed getting to know him around the campfire at Little St.Germain. The funeral Mass at Gesu was perfect and a grand send off for Dave. L, Bill, Maureen Hilbert and family.

Dear Mrs Cannon, Charlie and Courtney,
I was looking for the obit for Fr. Dick Tomasek, SJ from Marquette High and came across the sad news of Mr. Cannon's passing. I have many happy memories of being in your home babysitting for the adorable Charlie and Courtney. To me, Mr. Cannon seemed more like a movie star than an average dad from Wauwatosa. Please accept my thoughts and prayers on the passing of a most wonderful man! Peace and love dear ones.

Dear Carol, I am so sad to hear about David's passing. I have many memories of the two of you from my years' growing up and of your friendship with my parents. David was kind, hilarious, witty and obviously so smart and talented. I still remember him playing the piano for us at a lovely get together at your home, after my mom died. A wink and a hug. Those are the gestures I remember from him. All our sympathies and prayers go out to you.

Carol-
Dave was a great lawyer, friend, and mentor. I first met and worked with Dave when I was a young lawyer at Michael Best. Dave was always giving of his time and wisdom, and you could go to Dave for advice, tactics, and strategy. That continued for me throughout my practice. He was always approachable (though his reputation and skills were immense) and his insights cut to the point. His Irish humor was a delight. His one liners were legendary and Dave always got in the last word.
He was respected, well loved, and he'll be missed.

Carol & Charlie, please accept my sympathy at Dave's/your dad's passing. Just learned a few weeks ago of his battle with cancer. You were a great couple together, lovers always. Although our paths crossed infrequently since I moved to Chicago 15 years ago - we usually connected at the MULS Advisory Board Annual Meeting - his warmth and wit will always be remembered.

We join in grieving Dave’s passing. He remains one of those truly unforgettable characters, from his common man’s wit and infectious laugh to his consummate professionalism and caring spirit.
We have known Dave as boss, mentor, colleague, and, most importantly, friend.
But while we grieve, we are not without hope, for we have God’s promise that out of ashes, beauty will rise.

Carol,
I am very sorry for your loss. May God comfort you and your family as you remember and give thanks for Dave's faith, love, and example. He loved all of you beyond measure. Dave battled disease with courage and determination, and was blest to have you always at his side. I remember his warmth and humor. He was proud to be a 3 M'er and loved nothing more than kidding me and other Jesuits. Find strength in the presence of friends at Dave's wake and funeral. I assure you of my prayers and will remember Dave and you at Mass.
