Godfrey, Pieter Yates Resident of Milwaukee, passed away on June 9, 2011, at the age of 53. Son of Constance and the late Dudley J. Godfrey Jr. Husband of Jeanne Godfrey. Loving father of Ella Mayboeck and Mercy Pember Godfrey. Survived by brothers Dudley James (Lisa) Godfrey III, and Adam Perham (Patricia) Godfrey. Uncle of Connor, Alyssa, Ryan, Joshua, and Shinji. Also survived by uncles Roger (Signe) Godfrey, John (Patricia) and Charles (Maryanne) Pember. Further survived by other relatives, many good friends, and devoted employees. Pieter graduated from University School of Milwaukee, the University of Minnesota, School of Architecture Minneapolis, with continuing education in China. Pieter was unique in so many ways. His special expertise in architecture, historic preservation, building materials, advocate for urban ecology, sustainable living, and his love for the past and present city of Milwaukee. Pieter served on the Board of Directors of the Layton Art Collection, Inc., and numerous neighboring communities to help strengthen and revitalize those neighborhoods. A service honoring Pieter's life will be held on Thursday, June 16, at 4:00 PM, at the Milwaukee Athletic Club, 758 North Broadway, Milwaukee, the Reverend Steven Teague, presiding.
