The world will never know a finer man or father than my dad. He taught all of us the meaning of life and how to treat each other with love and respect. There is no mystery to me on how he touched so many of our lives. You must not forget his great story of survival and love. He was a great teacher to many and a wonderful provider for his family. Dad, we ask you to watch over all of us now and work your magic with God as you take us through the rest of our journey until we see you again.

He sounds like an amazing man anyone would be honored to know. Thank you Mr. C for all you did in your time in the concentration camps. I can't believe all the things you witnessed or the horrible men you met. My prayers and condolences to your family. They have one amazing life to cherish.

I have always said-"Freedom is not Free" Someone paid the price - to give me liberty"
God Bless you and your family. May you rest in peace.

Joe, Bob, Glenn and the entire Choroszy family: my deepest sympathies.

I did have the chance to meet your father on a few occasions and knew part of his story, but clearly not as much as I do now after reading the article in the Journal/Sentinel. His life was indeed hard, but I do believe God enables and equips each of us to handle the work he assigns to us. Knowing what I now know about (may I call him Ziggy?), it can be said: 'Well done good and faithful servant.' His life touched more of those around than even he would dare imagine. Our loss is temporary. With that we have eternal hope. I pray to God for comfort in this time of difficulty.

My sincere condolences,

Louis Jungbluth

March 13, 2011

I will always remember the following about Mr. C. The experiences of Auschwitz that he shared with all of us at St. Als. His heartfelt presentation of his struggle to stay alive. His commanding voice that greeted me at church or as I was running through the airport. His spirit for life will carry on with all of us that knew him.

Marvel, I love you and you have always been there for me.

To the Choroszy Family,
I don't know anyone in your family, but I do want to extend my deepest condolences. I was so moved by your father "Ziggy"'s story of survival and his liberation. I had to chuckle on how he had the sense to make sure the guard made good on his end of the deal. I love to hear the stories from WWII, as I want to understand and remember, that hell was on earth in our backyards. I never want to see that again. It was 30 some years before my time, but I will never forget your father's story. Thank you for sharing and God bless you and your family

March 12, 2011

Dear sweet Marvel,
I am blessed to have known you. I met Ziggy a few times, when he came to school to talk to the kids about his years in WWII. A few times when I came to give you a ride. He was always smiling and you thought you knew him his whole life. I believe God will make him your own special angel. Whenever you see or hear a twinkle in the air it will be your Ziggy. This was a good man to have known if even for a few moments. All my love to you and your family and may God bless you. Wendi Demshar

My sympathies to the entire Choroszy family. I still remember Mr. Choroszy coming to our classroom at St. Al's to speak about his experiences in the concentration camp. What I recall was how he kept the Lords prayer in his mouth so as not to be seen by the German guards.

We were blessed to have the whole Choroszy family be part of St. Aloysius.

We are sorry for your loss. We saw Zygmunt's obituary and my husband who was born in Hungary in 1944 and lived in Germany from 1945-1951 before coming to the US, has an interest in the stores of people who have lived through the horrors that your loved one lived through. It is amazing Zygmunt lived to have a rich full life and a family to carry on his memories and stories. Zygmunt is a very lucky man and you must be very proud of him. May his memories forever remain in your hearts.

dear Choroszy Family.

we are so so sorry for your loss.
for the world's loss.
Uncle Ziggy was the best.
ever.
his sense of humor, his sense of fairness, and his sense of outrage, were all highly tuned which made him the perfect teacher.
he taught through example.
thanks to him and to you and to Harriet for taking in interlopers like me, my dad and Marky, and making us part of your family.
they say there are two ways to bring light to the world.
one, by being the flame itself and two, by being the mirror that reflects it. Uncle Ziggy was both.
he will be missed.
comfort and peace to you all.

Dear Ziggy, Marvel and Family,
I have known this family my entire life - even a move over 40 years ago did not stop our friendship and support for each other. Mr. Choroszy is an inspiration to me...he survived and then prospered from conditions I can't even imagine.
Ziggy and Marvel raised 5 boys and helped raise me too -
He was tough (and as a kid i was afraid of him) but as an adult, he showed me the strength of his beliefs..and he had great faith.
God Bless You Ziggy.
Many will miss you....but we will not forget.

My deepest sympathies to the family.
Knowing Mr. Chroszy was a great honor and pleasure.
Listening to him speak was very enlightening as child. Then I had the pleasure of working with him as an adult.
While working with him he told me I could call him by his first name but I had to much respect for him to call him anything but "Mr. Choroszy". He would always giggle at me for it.
He also had a wicked sense of humor which made the day go faster.
He truely was a unique person.
My sympathy and prayers are with all of you.
