Berridge, Alta May (Nee Gordon) Died Monday, March 11, 2013, at Merrill Hills Manor in Waukesha. She was born on May 24, 1927, in Lynn Massachusetts, the first child of George and Alma Gordon. She is survived by her husband, Frank E. Berridge MD, sons Kirk, Erik, and Dale, daughter Jan, son-in-law Scott Grosenick, and grandsons Troy and Sean Grosenick. She is also survived by her siblings Lois (Caswell), Gladys (Bournique), and George Gordon, Jr. Alta graduated from Vassar College in 1948 and married Frank two years later. She worked as an engineer for G.E. in Lynn, Cincinnati and New York City on jet engine design and early manned space programs. Alta's earnings as an engineer supported her husband Frank through his advanced training in Surgical Oncology. In pursuit of Frank's profession they moved to Milwaukee in 1959. They built a house in Elm Grove in 1960, where Alta stayed at home to raise her four children. Earning her teaching degree from Alverno College in 1975, she taught in the Elmbrook School District primarily in the areas of math and science. To share her love for reading with others, she joined the Elm Grove Library staff for about ten years. Alta was a worldwide traveler and explored all 50 states and 5 continents! She loved to learn about different cultures, see wonderful landscapes, and to visit historical sites. Those wishing to pay their respects may join the family at the Venice Club banquet room, 1905 N.
