Beatrice Karan Obituary

Karan, Beatrice Sharp (Nee Sharp) Passed to the world of truth on Dec. 1, 2009, at 91 years old. Beatrice was born in Milwaukee on March 30, 1918. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Milwaukee's Riverside High School. In her teens, she won a prestigious national competition to study under the great master teacher and conductor, Rudolf Ganz, in Chicago. She then continued on to win numerous national and state piano performance awards. During WWII she performed a weekly classical radio show. Besides giving concerts, Beatrice taught a multitude of students in piano and composition. Many of her students went on to successful careers in music themselves. Beatrice was the first piano teacher in Wisconsin certified to offer High School credits in Music through private study and worked brilliantly with special needs students. Her accomplishments in the field of music were only surpassed by her dedication, love, loyalty, and inspiration that she passed on to her numerous descendents. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Karan, ob"m. She is survived by her three children, Chana Karan (Joel) Eckhardt, Kenneth R. (Robyn) Karan and Bennett G. (Sara) Karan; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their unending gratitude to Sara Karan, who's love, devotion and friendship was unparalleled. It is with sadness that I learned of Aunt Bea's passing. Such a wonderful Aunt. I can vividly remember her beautiful smile, her sense of humor and her genuine love for her family. We can all see the results of what a special person she was by those she left behind. You are all truly blessed to have had such an incredible Mother and Grandmother. My love to all Lynne White
