Betty Mae Kunkel

Notice Condolences

Kunkel, Betty Mae (Nee Kazmeier) Betty was born on October 8, 1926 in Kiel, Wisconsin to Oscar ad Mattie Kazmeier. She was the youngest of three daughters her sisters Marie Kazmeier and Ruth (Christel) preceded her in death. She attended Deaconess School of nursing in Milwaukee and then worked as an RN at the Milwaukee VA Hospital. She married Ken Kunkel in 1948 and they lived in Milwaukee, then in Brookfield, WI. Ken died in 1983. Betty recently retired as a part time insurance agent. She is survived by her sons Jeff Kunkel and his wife Mary Elyn Bahlert of Oakland, California and Randy Kunkel and his partner, Michael Sukawaty of Pewaukee, Wisconsin. She is further survived by many friends who she enjoyed traveling with and working with. Betty taught us much about living and dying she modeled acceptance, courage, dignity and faith. Many thanks to our family, friends, and colleagues who supported our family during the final months of Betty's life. A memorial service to remember and celebrate Betty's life will be held on Tuesday, June 11 at 5:30PM at Community United Methodist Church, 14700 Watertown Plank Road, Elm Grove, WI 53122. Visitation: 4:00 5:30PM. The family encourages memorials to the or Zilber Hospice.
